I joined Liberty Life (North City Group) in 1986 and started my own advisory practice 4 years later in 1990 as Ivan Moskoff & Associates cc, later to become Ivan Moskoff Financials (Pty) Ltd in 1999.
I transitioned my practice to a 'Limited Client Practice' (LCP) in 2006 to offer my services to a limited number of select clients, mostly specialist medical professionals and company directors. These high income / high net-worth individuals require a bespoke and personal approach to advice and administration of their assurance, investment, and retirement portfolios.
Financial products can be complex structures and a sound understanding of their component parts is key to optimizing client benefits. This applies to both risk policies and investments. It also requires an understanding of their corporate management, benefit structure and definitions, claims processes, incentives, asset allocation, fund composition, mandate, markets and risk, to mention a few. Translating these ideas into meaningful information is crucial to the advisory process to build robust portfolios, always carefully considering client objectives, priorities and needs.
To meet succession planning and compliance objectives (RDR, FAIS, TCF, FSCA) I joined Momentum Consult (Pty) Ltd (a division of MMI Group) in 2014 as franchise principal of Momentum Consult Helderberg in Somerset West. Momentum Consult is a full-service Financial Services Provider (FSP) brokerage.
My clients benefit from a broader range of available service providers and products. Discovery products and services are also provided via my own practice, Ivan Moskoff Financials (Pty) Ltd, under FSB licence (FSP 7903).
New client introductions are largely by client referrals though I welcome non-referred clients. An initial fact-finding consultation is complimentary for the first 50 minutes, with an hourly rate applicable thereafter (see my Services section).
